River Nene, Ringstead (WDNAC)

Just a short visit
(09.30-12.00) to the Nene for my first lure fishing
outing of the year. I fished the main stem of the
Nene alongside Barker's lake, utilising the newly
installed platforms along this length. The river was
very weedy and clear with a downstream breeze.
Started off using the Salmo Tiny (3.5cm, 2g) and
managed a couple of quick small perch.

| After
this early 'success' I had no more takes, could not
see any follows and there was still a lot of weed and
so I decided to target the Chub using a surface lure
(Lil Bug in green, 3cm/4.3g). Whether there were any
chub in the stretch I fished I have no idea, but I
certainly never detected any, perhaps another day
(maybe fish the backwater instead). |
